When you yell ‘God Bless You’ in my face with an angry tone, it doesn’t sound very genuine. It also confuses your child because usually mommy says ‘God Bless You’ when she is being nice to someone. “Mommy isn’t being nice right now and I don’t understand why!”

This lady and her sister were taking turns posing for pictures with this child and the hate filled signs that the Hasidic religious leaders had brought. The sisters giggled and laughed and tagged each other in their Facebook photos. They were dressed in their Sunday best - bright colors, big smiles. You know who didn’t smile one time? This little girl. Even the guy holding the sign knew to cover his face in shame.

Hate is as American as apple pie - and ice cream!! The father’s sign says, “We the People”. As in ‘We the people of the United States of America…” which includes everyone. This is why separation of church and state is important. You can believe in any faith and it’s teachings, but you cannot rule the land and make laws by that faith.
